Veriteq Data Logger Batteries:
Long Lived, Powerful, Reliable

Safeguarding Your Data: 10-year battery power

Veriteq data loggers have a special low-power design, superbly efficient operation, and a long-life lithium energy cell. At a sampling rate of once per minute, our data loggers can record for 10 years. This gives you the security of knowing that — whether you are monitoring or mapping — the loggers will record continuously regardless of power or network interruptions.

Energy Efficient Circuitry

In most instrumentation, it is the sensor circuitry that demands the most power. For example, in chart recorders, the circuitry is powered continuously, which quickly uses up the battery. The same thing can happen with cheap data logging devices manufactured for single-use very limited time periods.

By contrast, Veriteq data loggers power the circuitry only long enough to take a sample (about a second) then immediately power down to conserve energy. The makes for extremely efficient battery use.

In most applications and for the most common rates of sampling, our batteries last about 10 years. When the data logger is returned for calibration— as the environment and your regulatory needs dictate— we check the battery and replace whenever the power is low.

Engergy Efficient Computation

Another example of our logger's energy saving capability is how it computes accurate readings. All Veriteq sensors — thermistors, thermocouples or capacitive resistors—use complex calculations for accurate measurements. Rather than use battery power for computation, our system offloads this onto the Host PC.

Using data loggers with a long battery life reduces the risk of data loss due to dead batteries and the need for replacement batteries. Our batteries are soldered into each logger, which ensures a more solid battery connection.

The Risk of a Lesser Logger Life

Most data loggers or recording devices have about a one-year battery life. In many applications, a short battery life is a risk because the actual life of the battery may only be greatly reduced once it leaves the factory — by as much as half its predicted life!

A shorter battery life forces frequent battery changes in an attempt to offset the risk of data loss. Unfortunately, if you have multiple data loggers, this is an incredibly time-consuming method.

Not only does changing logger batteries take extra time, user-replaceable batteries come with specific problems, including:

  • shock and vibration susceptibility
  • contact oxidization from moisture and thermal conditions
  • deposits that interrupt or trigger intermittent battery operation

The Veriteq logger 10-year battery life is based on continuous operation at a one minute sample rate. You can maximize battery life by setting your loggers to sample once per hour.
