Our
Data Loggers Have a New Look
This June, we are changing the look of our data loggers to provide
improved connectivity options, including Power over Ethernet (PoE)
and Wireless.
The new data logger exoskeleton will allow simplified and improved
connectivity options via the soon-to-be released data logger cradle,
which will feature a built-in Ethernet port. The new cradles,
which will contain the hardware for PoE, will begin shipping in
fall 2008.
Wireless connectivity will be available through the cradle by 2009.

Questions about the New Look
Q: Can the new data logger be used exactly like the current model?
A: Yes, it can be used exactly like the current model, either as
a stand-alone system or connected to networks via Digi devices. Without
the cradle, the data logger is identical to current models in terms
of functionality.
Q: Are there any changes to software compatibility between existing
data loggers and new data loggers?
A: No change; software compatibility is identical
Q: Will data logger part numbers remain the same?
A: Yes. All specs (except for logger dimensions) will remain the
same.
Q: Will different firmware and hardware version numbers be used?
A: Yes
Q: How long will Veriteq Continue to support and calibrate the traditional format data loggers?
Indefinitely. We have no plans to discontinue support or calibration of traditional format data loggers.
Q: Other than the increased connectivity of the upcoming cradle, are there other improvements?
A: Yes:
- DB9-Connector: The new data logger will have a traditional
DB9 connector allowing cables to be screwed tight to the logger,
eliminating the possibility of bent pins. Veriteq offers DB9 cables
for use with USB and Digi devices.
- Adjustable Time-base clock: We are now able to make
adjustments to the data logger time-base clock, so we can ensure
the data logger leaves Veriteq at the optimal starting point. The
accuracy rating spec for time remains unchanged at +/- 1 min./month
at 0 to 50°C.
Q: How will Veriteq ensure Quality and Compatibility of the new
data logger with existing systems?
A: We will be executing an extensive full-test matrix on all elements
of our data loggers. In addition, data loggers are sold with an ISO
17025 accredited, NIST-traceable calibration certificate (same as
before) showing accuracy test results for each individual data logger.
Many customers use this important document as the basis of their hardware
qualifications.
Q: What models will be available in new format?
A: "2000 series" for Humidity and Temperature, "1000
series" with internal temperature sensor, and "1000/1400
series" with up to 4 external temperature probes. These 3 product
families represent our most popular networked data loggers.
Note: The VL-1000-VLT, 2000-LRH, I/S series, 1700 series, and 4000
series will remain in the traditional format.
Q: When will the cradles be released?
The PoE cradle will be released in fall of 2008. The wireless cradle
will be released in 2009.
